Description
THE FARM
Like excellent winemakers who are always looking for the perfect combination between grapes and ideal conditions for plant growth, to ensure that a normal wine turns into one of the best vintages, the Ka’anapali estate is also always dedicated to production of unique coffees, which can be distinguished and of high quality.
The breathtaking Ka’anapali estate is located in the western Maui Mountains at an altitude ranging from 110 to 600 meters above sea level. The entire plantation is drip irrigated by the cool West Maui mountain streams once used to irrigate sugar plantations. Pu’u Kukui, the second wettest place in the world is also the highest peak in West Maui, oversees the gentle slopes of the estate.
THE PROCESSING
The cherry harvest takes place once a year in September. In the MauiGrown Coffee processing plant, the cherries are carefully selected, separating the ripe from the immature ones, and then by means of a dry mill they are peeled, washed and selected according to the size. What comes out of the mill is the result of 12 months of cherry growth and ripening after flowering.
THE EXPERIENCE IN A CUP
In the cup a full-bodied coffee, medium acidity and with very special spicy notes. Hints of cereals and pepper.
